Licensed Practical Nurse
Practical Nursing Program - Certificate
The Department of Nursing offers comprehensive classroom education as well as hands-on
clinical experience. The carefully selected curriculum consists of prerequisite courses
intended to prepare students for advanced nursing courses and the core curriculum
is designed to provide students with a solid foundation embedded with the standards
of practice essential for entry into the workforce. The program combines traditional
Native American teachings within a conceptual framework which promotes an appreciation
of the unique cultural, racial, and social differences among clients. Students who
successfully complete the Practical Nursing Program will receive a Certificate and
qualify to sit for the Michigan NCLEX-PN exam.
The Certificate in Practical Nursing Program is a selective admission process. Nursing
Program applicants must meet specific criteria to be considered for acceptance into
the Nursing Program. Only applicants who meet established minimum criteria will be
considered for the nursing program. Meeting minimum standards does not ensure admission
to the nursing program. Applicants will be accepted until each class is at full capacity.
Pre-requisite coursework includes BI 107* Human Biology with a C or higher, MA 104
with a C or higher.
